Convert Shapefile to KMZ online
Upload a zipped Shapefile, check it on the map, download a KMZ that lands at the right place in Google Earth.
Why convert Shapefile to KMZ here?
- The .prj is read and the data reprojected to the longitude/latitude Google Earth expects: no shifted layer.
- No .prj? Pick the coordinate system on the map before you download.
- One folder per layer, or per value of the attribute column you pick (e.g.
type). - Click any object in Google Earth to see its attributes.
How it works
- UploadDrop your file, up to 50 MB. Nothing to install, no account.
- See it on the mapEvery layer drawn on a map in a minute or two. Click an object to see its attributes.
- Place & checkCoordinate system from the file, from the coordinate labels, by search or with 2 points. AI names the layers; you correct them.
- DownloadFiles under 1 MB are free (3 a day). Bigger files: one payment per conversion.

FAQ
How do I convert SHP to KMZ?
Zip the .shp, .shx, .dbf and .prj, drop the zip above, check it on the map, then download the KMZ.
My Shapefile has no .prj. Can I still convert it?
Yes: pick the coordinate system it uses (8,000+ EPSG codes) on the map first. Google Earth needs it to place your data.
KMZ or KML?
KMZ is a zipped KML: same content, smaller file. Need a plain KML? Use the Shapefile to KML page or switch the output before downloading.
How much does it cost?
The map preview is free, files under 1 MB download for free (3 a day), bigger files are $5.
What happens to my files?
Your files are deleted after 24 hours and never used for AI training. They are only used to make your conversion.
Can I get a refund?
No: the free map preview is there so you can check the result before you pay. If a file doesn't open, e-mail us and we'll fix the conversion.
Paid downloads?
Paid downloads open in a few days. Until then files under 1 MB download for free, and Max AI is free to try.
